Holtec, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, X-energy, Last Energy, TerraPower and Westinghouse are among the US-based SMR companies that have announced projects in the UK.
GE Hitachi is also seeking to deploy units in Poland and Hungary and is discussing with potential partners in Sweden, Finland and Estonia. NuScale has signed deals to deploy reactors in Romania and Poland and Oklo in September signed a partnership with Sweden’s Blykalla AB through which the two SMR developers will seek to “align on fuel, supply chains and regulation to accelerate commercialisation globally.”
