Romanian utility provider Electrica, through its subsidiary New Trend Energy, has finalised an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract valued at approximately €27.9m for the Satu Mare 3 solar project. Located near the Doba commune in Satu Mare county, the development involves the construction of a 62.5MW photovoltaic farm and an associated 110kV transformer substation.
The agreement also stipulates that the selected contractor will provide operation and maintenance services for a three-year period following the plant's commercial commissioning. Construction is now underway, with the investment primarily funded through the company’s 2025 green bond issuance. This solar initiative is a key component of Electrica’s long-term strategy to expand its renewable electricity generation capacity to 1GW by 2030.
