Dolphin Drilling has signed a multi-year contract for its Borgland Dolphin semi-submersible rig with an undisclosed operator in the UK. The agreement adds approximately US$239m to the firm's total contract backlog.
Operations are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2027, immediately following the rig’s current assignment with Repsol. The confirmed work scope will run until the unit’s next Special Period Survey (SPS) in October 2031, inclusive of mobilisation and demobilisation. Furthermore, the deal contains options that could extend the charter for an additional five years.
The Borgland Dolphin is a fifth-generation, enhanced Aker-H3 rig equipped with RamRig technology. Featuring an eight-point mooring system, the asset operates in water depths of up to 450m and boasts a proven operational history across the North Sea.
