Energy leaders, policymakers, and businesses to gather in Kuching, Borneo, on 25-26 February 2025 for high-level talks, B2B meetings, and cross-border partnerships across oil, gas, and renewables.
London, 6 January 2025 — The Energy Industries Council, the world-leading energy supply chain trade association and purveyor of world-class events and data, is set to bring together energy leaders, policymakers, and innovators at its first EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 conference.
The event – scheduled for 25-26 February 2025 at the Hikmah Exchange Event Centre in Kuching – will help forge partnerships across the island of Borneo, which encompasses Malaysia's states of Sabah and Sarawak, the sovereign Kingdom of Brunei, and Indonesia's Kalimantan region.
YB Datuk Dr. Haji Hazland bin Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability in the Sarawak State Government, said “Sarawak is committed to achieving net-zero carbon by 2050, and events like EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 play a key role in forging strategic partnerships that will drive regional collaboration and innovation.”
EIC Regional Director for Asia Pacific Azman Nasir said, “This milestone event for the Asia Pacific region is a massive undertaking by the EIC’s Malaysia office to bring everyone together to contribute to the region’s net zero journey. The Conference’s diverse speakers, topics and activities make it one of the most influential energy gatherings in Southeast Asia.”
The event will bring together more than 1,000 delegates, over 30 exhibitors, and 100-plus speakers for two days of discussions and panel sessions, apart from more than 150 B2B meetings.
“EIC CONNECT Energy Borneo 2025 is not just about discussions—it’s about action,” EIC CEO Stuart Broadley said. “The conference, by focusing on building cross-border partnerships, will explore commercial opportunities in oil and gas, renewables, hydrogen, carbon capture, and sustainable infrastructure. This what the EIC is all about, to help companies grow their business, diversify their activities and export their products and services.”
The conference features sessions, including one titled "Net Zero as Catalyst for Economic Prosperity," that will look at how transition to net-zero can serve as a driver for economic growth. Other key sessions include "Strategies for Strengthening Energy Security" on strategies to ensuring resilient and diversified energy supplies that meet ASEAN's (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) growing demand. The session "Collaborative Actions in Achieving Regional Synergies" will focus on policy and technological alignment across borders for a sustainable and integrated energy network.
Delegates will be hearing from leading government officials, CEOs of companies, and pioneers in technology. International case studies on CCUS and Hydrogen Hubs, Floating Solar, Green Finance, and many others will also be showcased.
