On 20 September, Deutsche ReGas broke ground on the Deutsche Ostsee project. The initiative consists of the installation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at the Lubmin port, north-eastern Germany.
The developer expects the terminal to start LNG production late this year. Annual output is estimated to reach up to 4.5 billion cubic metres of gas.
Through an agreement previously signed with TotalEnergies, a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will be placed at Lubmin and connected to underwater pipelines.
TotalEnergies has also disclosed the possibility of deploying two more units, which would bring total gas delivery to 15 billion cubic metres per year.
