Prysmian Group has been awarded contract worth more than US$800m for the provision of cable systems for two offshore wind farms in Germany. To be constructed in the North Sea, the plants are called DolWin4 and BorWin4.
Prysmian will carry out design, supply, installation and commissioning of onshore and offshore cables for both the facilities developed by Amprion Offshore.
The 320kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) cables will be almost 1,000km long. Transmission capacity is calculated at 900MW.
Together, DolWin4 and BorWin4 will feature a total capacity of 1.8GW.
