The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan has declared financial close for its proposed 500MW Zarafshan wind farm. To be built in the Navoiy region, Masdar will be responsible for carrying out engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works.
Zarafshan should enter operations in late 2024, when it’s expected to become one of Central Asia’s largest wind power plants.
Avoiding the emission of 1.1 million tons of CO2 per year, the farm will be able to power 500,000.
Uzbekistan predicts that Zarafshan will bring over US$600m in foreign investment.
