The first turbine of the 1,075MW Seagreen offshore wind farm in Scotland has entered operations. The plant, developed by TotalEnergies and SSE Renewables, is located 27km off the coast of Angus.
Seagreen will have 114 turbines in total. These will be able to produce 5TWh of energy per year, an amount enough to supply 1.6m houses.
This is TotalEnergies’ first offshore wind farm in the UK North Sea, being part of the company’s goal of having 35GW of renewable capacity by 2025.
Full commissioning is expected to take place in the first half of 2023, after a total investment of US$4.3bn.
