The Zeewolde wind farm, the Netherland’s largest onshore wind farm built to date, is scheduled to reach start-up on 26 August. Construction for the 320MW plant began almost three years ago in October 2019.
The project consists in the replacement of 220 older turbines for 91 newer machines. Required investment revolves around €500m.
According to the decision of the municipality of Zeewolde and the province of Flevoland, turbines that have been replaced will be removed from site by 2026.
