Neoen and Prokon, developers of the Björkliden wind power project in Närpes, Finland, have stated the beginning of construction work at the plant’s site. Turbine supplier Nordex and EPC contractor Keski-Suomen Betonirakenne have been given notice to proceed.
The 40MW plant is expected to begin operations in early 2024.
Björkliden will feature seven wind turbines connected to the Brännas substation. The link will be possible through a 7km, 110kV subterranean transmission line.
A power purchase agreement (PPA) with Equinix was secured in January 2022. It guarantees a 10-year supply of 85% of Björkliden’s output to the company.
