RWE Renewables has started operations at the 195.5MWac Hickory Park project in the United States. The plant, which encompasses photovoltaic generation and also features a 40MW, 2-hour energy storage facility, was built in Mitchell County, Georgia.
Hickory Park has a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) secured with Georgia Power. This is the largest solar project by RWE in the American continent, having installed over 650,000 panels in an area of 1,800 acres.
With its completion, the state of Georgia will benefit from the plant not only through power generation, but also tax revenue, which will be directed to local counties and school districts.
RWE is the operator of over 30 facilities in the United States, with its production capacity overcoming the 5,000MW landmark.
