EDF Renewables has sent for approval a planning application for its 49.9MW Glassthorpe solar plant in Northamptonshire. This is the latest proposition from a series of 50MW solar projects under development by the company.
EDF Renewables has already carried out some of the steps required for the approval process of Glassthorpe: public consultation, feasibility studies and site assessment.
The Glassthorpe plant is estimated to have a 40-year lifetime. During this period, EDF Renewables will contribute with an annual fund for initiatives in the local community, paying £20,000 annually.
According to the developer, the installation of this plant will help the UK meet its net zero target for 2050.
