Iberdrola has started construction for its Askio III wind farm in Western Macedonia, Greece. With its location near the Askio mountain, the 50.4MW facility will feature 12 4.2MW wind turbines.
Civil works will be completed in the second half of the year, ideally before winter comes and snow falls at the project’s site.
Another Greek project by Iberdrola, the 33.6MW Mikronoros wind farm, in Rhodopi, is also under construction. Works for 18MW Rokani, in Viotia, and 37.8MW Askio II, adjacent to the Askio III plant, shall begin until the end of 2022.
Askio III was acquired by Iberdrola in Greece’s renewables energy auction held in August 2020. In April 2021, Vestas secured a turbine supply deal for both Askio II and III.
