The world’s largest wind turbines have left the Maasvlakte port in Rotterdam. The 11MW equipment, manufactured by Siemens Gamesa, is set out for the Hollandse Kust Zuid offshore wind farm.
The turbines feature a rotor diameter of 200 metres and a height of 225 metres (from sea level to the top of the blade). Their transport is being carried out by Wind Osprey, a vessel owned by contractor Cadeler, responsible for the installation of the 140 turbines.
Hollandse Kust Zuid will cover an area of 356 km² located approximately 20km off the southern Dutch coast. It will be divided into four sites, each capable of accommodating 350MW.
