ExxonMobil has started production from the Liza Phase 2 development on the Stabroek Block, offshore Guyana.
The production has been started through the Liza Unity floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, which is projected to reach its target of 220,000 barrels of oil later this year.
Built at shipyards in China and Singapore, the vessel arrived in Guyana last October. It is moored at a water depth of approximately 1,650m and can store nearly 2m barrels of crude oil.
The Stabroek block is expected to have recoverable resources of over 10bn oil-equivalent barrels, with a potential to support up to 10 projects.
ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration & Production Guyana is the operator of the block with a 45% stake, while Hess Guyana Exploration and CNOOC Guyana are partners with 30% and 25% stakes, respectively.
