PETRONAS has announced that the East Cendor oil field in Block PM304, 140km offshore Peninsular Malaysia, achieved its first oil production on 23 June 2021.
Malaysian Petrofac Ltd, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company, and PETRONAS Carigali Sdn Bhd developed the field under the Block PM304 production sharing contract. The block is operated by Petrofac.
East Cendor is the fourth in the Block PM304 development series, following Cendor, West Desaru and Irama. The project includes the development of a new wellhead platform (WHP) as well as the installation of a new 6.3km pipeline connecting the field to the existing FPSO Cendor. The oil field's output is expected to reach a peak of over 7,000 barrels of oil per day, which will further extend the economic life of Block PM304.
