Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) and the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium have agreed on the principal commercial terms for the engineering, procurement and construction contract of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. With this foundation established, the parties aim to conclude detailed negotiations by the end of 2026.
Located at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in the Choczewo commune, the facility will feature three Westinghouse AP1000 reactors with a combined capacity of 3,750MW. Bechtel assumed control of the project site in August, initiating the second phase of preparatory works and in-depth geological surveys.
Meanwhile, PEJ intends to submit a formal construction permit application next year, targeting initial electricity delivery to the national grid by 2036. To support the delivery timeline, multiple subcontracts have already been awarded to domestic companies, driving regional supply chain growth.
