An 86.4MW wind power project in Lower Saxony, Germany, has secured approval from the Federal Immission Control Act (BlmSchG). The wind farm is currently under development by PNE AG and a project developer linked to the regional Volksbanken.
With 12 turbines planned to be installed at the project's site in Löningen, the facility is expected to be able to power approximately 52,000 homes per year once operational.
The project's ownership model combines institutional participation with local involvement. Residents of Löningen will be allowed to join landowners and PNE through direct financial participation in a community wind farm scheme.
