Edison has entered the Pozzallo floating offshore wind project by acquiring a 50% stake in it. The power plant, to be built in Italy, is planned to have a generation capacity of 975MW.
Pozzallo was previously solely owned by Blunova, with whom Edison will now jointly develop the project. The value of the transaction has not been disclosed.
The floating offshore wind farm will be installed 25km off the coast of Sicily. Italy's Ministry of the Environment (MASE) is currently assessing its authorisation application.
Once operational, Pozzallo should be able to avoid the emission of over 780,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.
