A joint development by Ørsted and Nuveen Infrastructure, the Burkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind project has installed its first turbine. Located offshore Germany, the power plant is designed to have a capacity of 913MW.
Installation works, which involve 83 Siemens Gamesa wind turbines, will be carried out by Seaway 7 and Cadeler. The first turbine was installed by the Seaway Ventus installation vessel.
This is Ørsted's first offshore wind project in Germany without an offshore substation (OSS), as well as one of the world's first offshore wind farms to be awarded without subsidies.
Start-up at Burkum Riffgrund 3 is expected next year.
