Petrobras, Brazil's national oil company, and the Rio de Janeiro state government have established a protocol of intentions (PoI) for the development of an offshore wind farm.
According to the PoI, Petrobras and the government will execute joint feasibility studies regarding the power plant. In May, a similar agreement was signed with the Rio Grande do Norte state government, northeastern Brazil.
Details for the offshore wind project in Rio will be announced once the development advances further.
Petrobras also has an ongoing PoI with the state government of Rio de Janeiro for a carbon capture hub pilot. According to plan, the facility will have the capacity to store 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
