Australia's National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) has approved Woodside's decommissioning plan in the Stybarrow field. Located approximately 56km northwest of Exmouth, works will be carried out within production licence WA-32-L.
The equipment to be decommissioned include nine anchors, ten suction base foundation piles and an exploration wellhead. The last one, which is currently buried in the seabed, will reamin in situ.
Once the equipment removal is complete, Woodside expects to resume oil production in March 2025.
