Consenting process for the Ayre and Bowdun offshore wind projects in Scotland has been initiated by developer Thistle Wind Partners. Combined, the two facilities will have a generation capacity of 2GW.
According to Thistle Wind Partners' plans, Ayre will be a floating farm off the coast of Orkney, while Bowdun will have fixed foundations off the coast of Aberdeen. Both power plants will have 1GW each.
Once up and running, these offshore wind farms are expected to provide green energy to approximately 2.4 million homes.
Considering that the consenting process should be over next year, Thistle Wind Partners has scheduled start of construction for 2029.
