Operations have started at Tengizchevroil's (TCO's) wellhead pressure management project (WPMP) in the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan. The onshore field, located in the Atyrau region, is operated by a joint venture between Chevron, ExxonMobil, KazMunayGas and Lukoil.
The beginning of production was marked by the transitioning the initial metering station to low pressure and activating the associated pressure boost facility (PBF).  This is part of Tengiz's larger Future Growth Project/Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP/WPMP), which should be complete in 2025.
The FGP/WPMP project, whose estimated investment is US$46.7bn, intends to increase TCO's oil output by 12 million tonnes per year (260,000 barrels per day).
