MidOcean Energy has successfully completed the acquisition of a stake in Peru LNG (PLNG) previously owned by SK Earthon. The company now holds 20% of South America's first liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility.
Besides a natural gas liquefaction plant with a processing capacity of 4.45 million metric tonnes per annum (mmtpa), PLNG also covers a 408km pipeline, two storage tanks (with capacity for 130,000m³ each), a 1.4km marine terminal and a truck loading facility.
Located in Pampa Melchorita, 170km away from Lima, capital of Peru, PLNG is operated by Hunt Oil Company.
