The Azeri Central East (ACE) platform, located on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) field in the Caspian Sea, offshore Azerbaijan, has begun production. The project, owned by BP, required a total investment US$6bn.
This is the sixth platform to be installed on ACG, an operational field since 1997. Since then, the field, has produced over 4.3 billion barrels of oil.
The development of the ACE project was initiated in April 2019 with the approval by BP. The company also operates two other platforms in the Caspian Sea.
The new platform is designed to feature a capacity of 100,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd), reaching 300 million barrels throughout its operational lifespan.
