Ørsted has received approval from the Biden administration for a 1GW offshore wind farm in the United States. To be built in Massachusetts, the project should come online in 2026.
The wind farm, dubbed Sunrise Wind, will supply power to New York and is developed by a joint venture formed by Ørsted and Eversource Energy.
The installation of Sunrise Wind will collaborate to New York's efforts to reach 9GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035 and Biden's target of 30GW by 2030.
