Masdar Arlington Energy has announced the start of construction for two battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in the United Kingdom. Combined, the two storage facilities will have a capacity of 55MW.
The projects are located in Rochdale and Stockport each. Last year, Masdar disclosed plans to invest over US$1bn in the UK's BESS sector.
The UK is considered a leader in BESS developments, with approximately 7.3GW/11.6GWh expected to come online by the end of the year.
