The Marechal Duque de Caxias floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit is now heading to the Mero field offshore Brazil. The vessel is charted by Petrobras from MISC.
The FPSO, which has an oil production capacity of 180,000 barrels per day (bpd) and a gas compression capacity of 12 million cubic meters per day, is expected to start operations in September this year.
Being connected to 15 wells, Marechal Duque de Caxias is the third development phase of the Mero field. Once it's complete, the additional FPSO will increase the field's production to 590,000bpd.
The Mero field is located on the Libra block, in the pre-salt layer of the Santos Basin.
