Energy officials from Nigeria and Morocco have resumed talks regarding the construction of a gas pipeline linking both countries. The project agreement was initially signed in 2017, followed by a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2022 that merged the Nigeria-Morocco pipeline with the extension of the West Africa gas pipeline.
The plan is that the pipeline will run from Nigeria to Morocco crossing Benin, Togo, Chana, Côte d'Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Gambia, Senegal and Mauritania.
The negotiations have been intensified in order to accelerate the project's development and to reach a final investment decision (FID).
Once complete, the pipeline is expected to feature a gas transport capacity of 3.0 billion cubic feet per day (Bcfpd).
