Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN), India’s state-owned hydropower company, has been granted approval to start the development of a second hydropower plant in Nepal. There, SJVN is already working on Arun-3, a 900MW hydropower project on the Arun River.
The 669MW project, named Lower Arun, had its draft project development agreement (PDA) approved in a meeting of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN). The PDA now moves to the approval of the Council Ministers of Nepal.
No further information has yet been disclosed regarding the initiative, but it has been announced, meanwhile, that the Arun-3 project is scheduled to reach operations next year.
