European Energy has received government approval for the installation of a new solar power plant in Vizzini, Italy. Once operational, the 250MW facility in Sicily will be the country’s largest solar project so far.
The Vizzini project will produce enough power to meet the demands of approximately 130,000 homes. This is enough the avoid 165,000 tonnes of carbon emissions per year.
This is not European Energy’s first solar development in Italy. The company previously completed the 130MW Troia project in Apulia, which also hit the mark for Italy’s largest solar farm when connected to the grid.
