About this event

The EIC is happy to announce the Breakfast in Rio: Midstream Opportunities with Transpetro

Transpetro, a fully owned subsidiary of Petrobras, was founded in 1998 with the aim of being a logistics company in the oil sector. The company has a strong presence in the transport and storageof oil and other products, such as natural gas and biofuels.

The company is currently present in 17 Brazilian states and is structured on two fronts: Pipelines and Terminals and Maritime Transport. With a strong presence in the operation and maintenance of gas pipelines, Transpetro manages 672 kilometres in the Southeast and Northeast regions of the country.

The construction of 25 cabotage transport vessels—including four Handy-class ships, eight gas carriers, four medium-range (MR1) cabotage vessels, and Aframax/Panamax product tankers—demonstrates the company’s strategic commitment to expanding its shipping fleet. As part of this effort, the subsidiary plans to launch a tender in mid-2025 to contract the four MR1 vessels, each with a capacity of 25,000 tonnes, for Petrobras' cabotage operations.

Reflecting the goal of expanding maritime transport, Transpetro saw a 9.2% increase in ship-to-ship transhipment operations, totalling 959 operations in the year.

On a recent trip to China, the president of Transpetro, Sérgio Bacci, met with businessmen to study the expansion of partnerships in the fields of oil and gas and the shipbuilding industry.
