About this event

The EIC is happy to announce the Webinar: South American Offshore Wind Report Launch with Shizen Energy

Join the EIC and Shizen Energy on 18 June to learn more about the launch of the South American Offshore Wind Report.

Shizen Energy, a Japanese renewable energy developer, is actively pursuing six offshore wind projects in Brazil, collectively amounting to 18 gigawatts (GW) of planned capacity. These initiatives are currently undergoing environmental licensing and are strategically located along Brazil's southern and northeastern coastlines.

In the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul, four projects are planned: Farol de Mostardas, Querência, Taim, and Barra do Chuí. Each of these projects is designed with a capacity of 3,000 megawatts (MW), contributing a total of 12 GW to the region. The Barra do Chuí and Querência projects are each expected to feature approximately 200 wind turbines. The combined investment for these four developments is projected to exceed R$150 billion, reflecting Shizen Energy's substantial commitment to Brazil's renewable energy sector.

In the northeastern state of Ceará, two additional offshore wind projects are being developed: Araras and Tatajuba. Each is planned with a capacity of 3,000 MW, adding a further 6 GW to Shizen Energy’s portfolio in Brazil. The Araras project will likely utilise 200 units of Vestas V236-15.0 MW turbines, each with a rated capacity of 15 MW.
